Sava

Never walk alone.

Sava matches Ohio University students heading the same way, so the walk back from the library, a party or a late shift uptown is one you share.

We’ll only email you about Sava. Privacy policy

How a walk with Sava works

  1. 1

    Request a walk

Tell Sava where you're going. It looks for students leaving from within a two-minute walk of you and heading your way.

  2. 2

    Match and verify

You see each other's first name and how much of the route you share. Meet at a public spot and swap a code, so the app confirms you found the right person.

  3. 3

    Walk together

If you choose, your trusted contacts get a text when you set off and when you're inside. If you stop for a while or leave the route, Sava checks that you're okay.

Someone with you, someone to call, help in one tap

Walk With Me

Find a student who’s heading your way right now, or plan a walk for later from a busy spot on campus, like the library steps.

  • You only match when you’d both walk most of your own route together.
  • Until you both say yes, you see first names and timing, never anyone’s exact location.
  • You can choose to walk only with women.

Volunteer calls

Nobody heading your way? Call a trained student volunteer who stays on the line until you’re inside. Volunteers never see your exact location.

Emergency button

Call 911 in one tap, or send your trusted contacts where you are. Sava never calls 911 for you, so you stay in control.

Why we’re building Sava

Most walks home are fine. Sava is for the ones that don’t feel that way: the library closing at midnight, a long stretch with nobody around, a friend who already went to bed.

Asking someone to come get you can feel like a big favor. But on any given night, other students are already walking the same streets at the same time. Sava connects them, so walking together is the ordinary choice instead of something you have to arrange.

It also gives students who want to help a concrete way to do it, by taking calls from anyone walking on their own.
